artists are handicapped if we are too afraid to fully express ourselves.  our characteristics, traits, feelings, beliefs are what we project into our art, and if we don’t express them fully the work does not speak as loudly.

and one of the hardest things about being an artist is finding the courage to exaggerate your characteristics and traits; to really make them apparent and visible to others, either in your day to day life or in your art.  that’s putting yourself on the line, opening yourself up to all kinds of criticism and rejection.
